This is why when I bought my townhome, prior to anyone moving in, I went into the adjacent units to mine with the builder key to see exactly the sound level I can turn up my speakers before you begin to hear anything.
Your place must be shittily built....sound proofing at my place on the party wall is such that you'll get the sound going to the front, outside, and back in there unit before you'l hear it in the party wall.

I had a roommate that weighed 120 lbs soaking wet. He started dating a girl in our apartment complex. The girl was Ok looking but she was deaf. My roommate's name was Kurt and he wasn't really a lady's man either. So he and this deaf girl start dating after a few weeks my boy starts having sex with the deaf girl. Kurt starts coming home at night with some swag. About two days later myself and my other roommate decide to go pass by the deaf girl's apartment while Kurt was there. Low and behold we hear a loud noise and we hear a girls loud voice saying "Oh kirk, oh kirk, oh kirk!!!" my boy was laying the lumber. 
He told us when he got home he tries to tell her be quiet but she doesn't shut up. Kurt said it did make him feel like superman when she starts howlering.
