You're confusing trashiness & greediness.

If they were in fact the same thing, 99% of the world would be trashy.

The only trashy person in this story is the one gossiping to strangers about their neighbor

people will always take advantage when given the opportunity. plenty of people went and got tarps, MREs, blankets, water, etc. after the hurricanes even though they weren't affected. it was just free stuff and people are sitting around doing nothing better with their time.

just be blessed you don't actually need the service and the morals to also not take advantage

Two weeks worth seems an extreme, but I've taken my kids to the local school a few times to get the free meals.

I'm not hurting in anyway right now, but I've paid taxes into said school system for 22 years now and my kids are in private schools.

Sounds like neighbors are broke.
Probably spend a lot to try and impress people.

Ascension Parish hands them out on Mondays for a week.

This is some trashy arse shite to go get if you don't need it. My ex wife made my daughter drive to school and get meals for all 4 kids at her house for a week. They live in a 400k house and ain't hurtin for shite. They're with me this week and we certainly don't pull that crap.

LAZY & TRASHY AS frick. Plain and simple.

Meh, who defines who needs it.
I fcking needed the lunches for my kids because we are tired of shopping and cooking.
Plus I like the chocolate milk that they give out for the next day's breakfast.

There's more to it that you think.

School board budgets, vendor contracts, etc.

It's not just to feed the poor people

A lot of food will be wasted if the schools weren't doing this and handing out free meals.

Enjoy the views from your high horse though.

what trashy signals am I sending out that would cause someone to brag about skimming from charity to me?
Since the school for your area is giving away free lunches, they are in the national school lunch program. It's a government grant for lower socioeconomic areas. They've already received funds for entire school year of food so they're actually doing the right thing and using the funds to continue to provide food.

Really wish I had another downvote for ya champ. This place has a fascination with the word trashy and for judging their neighbors. Who the heck are you to look down on her for taking the lunches? She probably isn't as secure as you think she is or she wouldn't have done it. Now she thinks you are douche. She's right.
