That's such a tired trope that always gets rolled out in these threads. Yes, there are lots of trashy pitbull owners, but there are also lots of good people who own them (I have a few friends who have one). And the nature part of it is much stronger...it's genetics.

You are probably rating your friends higher than they really are. It's been a handful of years since we had a pitbull in our household and we were a lot trashier people back then. I don't have an issue with all pitbulls as they are what they are and not all of them are vicious. It doesn't change my stance that everyone who owns a pitbull, definitely is at least a little trashy.

They were originally bred to go into badger holes and kill the badgers!
Probably the toughest dog pound for pound there is.

I hate that kind of dog! Let me guess..your wife’s choice. You should have said no because they’re too damn ugly! They serve no purpose. Friends of ours got two of them and they take them everywhere with them! Even on their boat! They put him in a little dog vest and they pretend to know when he has to go # 2 so they freaking take him home!! Oh it pisses me off so much! They act like idiots because of those annoying dogs so I just quit hanging out with them. Such ugly little stupid dogs!

Didnt know Dachshunds were such dicks. It's funny people buy dogs because they are cute etc but do your research on what dogs were initially breed for. Its in their blood/genes and often times they will revert to it without even trying. One of our kids recently moved back in and brought her 3 year old Australian shepherd. We also have 3 king Charles cavalier's as well and often let them out in the backyard. The shepherd will often go out there with them and ends up trying herd them together. I laugh because i know its not him but its in his blood to want to do this.

I’ve had four. The first one was full size and he could be an a-hole. He wanted nothing to do with strangers and would let them know first thing. The other three were miniatures and they were cool as could be.

They didn’t actually kill the badgers just like going don’t actually kill foxes. The person hunting them did. The dogs just flushed and held them.

I would immediately disown my own dog if it bit me (absent very extenuating circumstances).

Does a dachshund owner have to teach their dog to burrow? No. It's genetic. And so is the fact that pitbulls are larger and stronger with a more devastating bite than just about any other dog (they were bred specifically to have those traits).
This is a perfect depiction of why pit bulls are actually dangerous. The dachsund goes ham, and we have a hand wound. The pit bull goes ham, and we have destroyed lives.

It's the capacity for mayhem that matters, not whatever motivations we want to assign to the breed or to its owners.

Well, you see dogs use their mouth because they have no arms. What they want to do is punch you.
