First quarter. Had to get the jitters out. 3-12 end of first. 14-18 halftime. We won 44-40.

What was the spread?

No. Went straight from the office to the gym. Slacks and a button down.

I don't know. You'll have to ask that parent who posted earlier.

Make your firm sponsor the team and have their name plastered on the jersey like a Euroleague team.

I would definitely suit up to coach middle school basketball.

We do that in the city league that the firm actually plays in. And if this school gig didn't open up, I was going to coach in a city recreational league and have the firm sponsor.

We don't suit up at the office unless we have a mediation or a deposition or court. I'm not rocking a suit on a special occasion to coach 8th graders

Only time I've kept my full suit on for a game was when the kids wanted me to for the Championship.

I'm in year 8 of either 6th or 7th grade...it's always a blast. Except when they can't do a full court layup drill like tonight

No need to wear a suit if these gentlemen don't, either.

If I can be half the raging lunatic Huggins was in his heyday then I'll consider myself a success.

Good thread boos. As the father of a Catholic school 8th grader who plays every sport BUT basketball, and said 8th grader practically knows all 5 billion people in the world via instagram, he likely already knows as much about your game tonight as your players do. and he'll be telling me about it tomorrow.

Cool that you are stepping up to coach purely for the love of the game, seeing as how you don't have kids of your own yet.

My dad coached from the time I was 5 and the game has given me a lot and taught me a lot. I see it as sort of a pay it forward type of situation. Pass along the knowledge that was passed along to me...

Same for me. My dad coached little league/T-ball for 25 yrs. I felt I had to at least find time to be an assistant coach somewhere in there, and did.

Ditto Boy Scouts, until a few years ago.

Don't break your ankle when schooling the little kids.
