Why is it more awesome to see a black kid or hispanic kid graduate than a white kid?

You dickwad. I never said it was only the black folks. It was a lot of different colors. I just noted that the black folks were especially exuberant.

The air horn was trashy. Like you.

Nice observations.

Things have sure changed since I graduated in the early 90's. Everyone graduated together in the same ceremony. No one walked across the stage except the PhD's. Degrees were conferred by college thusly: would the College of Arts and Sciences please rise......we stood up......admin spoke his few words and conferred the degree. Sat down. Next college...

a testament to TOPS, but these same black students who may have once gone to Southern are now going to LSU and they are succeeding. THIS is how you build a multicultural society

Liberals are under the impression that conservatives don't want any minorities to succeed. The couldn't be further from the truth in my mind. Liberals have a rosy impression that there is an unlimited amount of resources to give to minorities. This is obviously wishful thinking and incorrect. As with anything, (cept cocaine) moderation is key.

A family of four could accept and handle adopting one or two kids from a troubled background and probably make a positive impact. If the same troubled family took in 10 children then it would likely be a disaster both for the family and the 10 children.

Who the f*** are you to decide what degree of pride is acceptable? Seems like someone here has white guilt.
In fairness, he was unintentionally kind of a dick about the black folks too. I'm sure some of those "bottom of the ladder", "first degree in their family" black folks he is making assumptions about would have been thrilled to hear this thoughts.

Let's give him a pass and assume he's just salty for having to sit through a graduation.

Thought you were “dreading your daughters graduation” cause of traffic, parking, construction, etc?

Glad you were pleasantly surprised.

Look, racist dude, you are headed for a multicultural society whether you like it or not. The question is whether we do it artificially, and give people a free ride, or make everybody work for it on a level playing field.

From what I saw yesterday, a lot of these minority kids came to LSU and worked for it, same as my kid. I have zero problem with the student body makeup reflecting the greater society, as long as each of those kids is required to earn it.

Nice thoughts and all but you are making some assumptions there particularly about the black kids you saw graduate. "Bottom of the ladder..." "first degree in their family"...What are you basing this on exactly?

It's called an opinion

It's ok if people have those, whether you agree or not.

They absolutely split it up in 2016. They had 3 different ceremonies for spring commencement.

Meh. I may or may not be racist. But see, here is the issue. You’re openly admitting that choices have been made to make this a multicultural society. Why?

Its not that it is more awesome. But it is awesome nonetheless. Because statistically there are less black or hispanic kids graduating. That is something of significance that deserves to be mentioned.

Listen man, this guys kid just graduated and basically stated a known fact. Yes on average black people get a little more excited, but who gives a damn be happy it's meant to be a celebration, enjoy it.

Also which side of the political spectrum someone is on is irrelevant. This board loves to sling shite because of a baseless opinion. Lighten up baw.

So college admissions should reflect the population? I.e. if 13% of the population is black then 13% of LSU should be black?

Btw this policy is coming from the same people who say race is a “social construct”. Funny how that works

True, you never said the word only. You did, however, specify the race of the folks who you thought to be a little exuberant as black and you never once mentioned any other color or race as being a little exuberant. Make sure you've got a rear view mirror when you start crawfishing!
