That's the British version, which a lot of spellcheckers use. OP, I agree with you. It would be a shame for the guy to throw away a chance at happiness because he can't get past his own hypocrisy about what she may have done in her previous life. If she's 10 years clean, at that age, it's more likely than not she'll stay clean. The stripper thing should be a non-issue at this point.
If the guy truly believes what he says he believes, he'll give this woman a chance.

Yes. He should practise what he priches.

It’s always easier said than done, but hopefully he will come around. It’s a tough hurdle to get over.

If he’s not comfortable with it he’s just not, no use trying to force it. Does seem odd to hold one’s past against them if that’s not their present or future but his call to make.

2 things: 1st your friend is a hypocrite and 2nd, there's nothing for him to forgive about her....she didn't do shite to him.

Luke 6:37-38
quote:
37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

She's 56. Presumably your "friend" isn't looking to start a family with her. I certainly wouldn't dump her over something that was in her past.
But if it turned out she was still using, that's different.

Not sure about what to forgive here. You think this chick is asking for his forgiveness?
He just doesn’t want to be with an ex-stripper. That has nothing to do with forgiveness. She never wronged him in anyway.
Probably thinking how his late wife would feel if this is the first chick he gets serious with after her death.
This ain’t about forgiveness.

I'd leave that to God, he's in the business, tell your friend to move on, his instincts are correct

You don't have to forgive, but He won't forgive you

She doesn't have anything for him to forgive. She never did anything to him, if I read the OP correctly. He just can't get over something she may have done before they ever met.
Now, if he decides they're not compatible, no harm no foul. But it sounds like he's being all judgey, which is pretty much contraindicated in his chosen belief system.

You can't make a housewife out of a whore.

And the whole stripper thing should be a total non-issue at her age.
I personally know a couple who've been happily married for 20 years now with three kids. I met her while we were both in college and she was a call girl. That's right, she screwed horny older guys for extra money.
But everything turned out fine. Bonus - she graduated with no student debt.
Edit: Sounds like she might be better off without your friend in her life.
