Did you think the ornaments were overpriced and/or worth it?

Like I said I’m a previous post, they made a fine eggs and two sides breakfast for cheap. They were always open in the am as far as I can remember

I kind of dig the jacket. I understand the collectible value or appeal of all things posted except the super balls/marbles lot. Is there really a secondary market for superballs? I guess the marbles could be antique or something. Do old marbles have manufacturer markings, or do you check to see if actually made of real marble to determine if antique?

The entire bag of balls and marbles was $3. It is a bust, but some super balls are worth a little money, these are not.
I don’t not know marbles. Marble collectors are worse than sports cards and comic book collectors. Plus, I’ve tried to study marbles, I just don’t get it.

I didn’t look at them, but I’m sure they were priced right off of eBay.

That Masters of the Universe toy's name was Stridor. I had it!

Yep, me too. I had every toy from He-Man I believe.

Cool seeing that one again. Forgot all about it.

Hawk's Nest as in the resturant off of Sherwood?

I remember the Hawk's Nest being on Lobdell between goodwood and government street.

It was off Sherwood as long as I can remember, and that’s 30+ years ago

1982 Holmes/Cooney

As a kid, it seemed like every time I saw Gerry Cooney, he was bleeding and on his way to the mat. In fact he was the butt of a few jokes back then about being a punching bag.

But I looked up his record and he was 28-3 as a pro.

He did beat Ken Norton, but his other wins were not any big names. When we saw him in the news or on TV, it was getting beat by Holmes, Foreman, and Spinks.

That Holmes fight was huge. Cooney was dubbed The Great White Hope, and with a ten million bucks prize for the challenger, it was the richest fight in boxing history to that time.

Originally, it was off of Lobdell, next to Billy Cannon's dental practice. Ray used to joke that Billy had ice chests full of counterfeit money buried in the field behind the place.
Ray bought the land and had the building for the new Hawks Nest built around the mid to late 1980's. Spent many a happy hour there, as well as Monday night football games with "guest chefs" cooking a halftime meal for the crowd. Many folks said it had a "Cheers" sort of feel to it.

Wow! The Hawk's Nest! I have many very blurry memories from there. Luckily I lived in walking distance during those times.
