About that van:

Three cars: one gets lost, other two can help locate and redirect.
One van: gets lost, stays lost.

Three cars: one flat tire or other breakdown, two can help

One van: any breakdown, 14 people beside the road.

And then there are rest stops:

Three cars: maybe two stops per car for the trip
One Van: one stop every fifteen or so miles. Unless everybody needs to go at once .....anybody know a site with 14 clean toilets?

One loud mother in law can make a trip miserable for how many people?

Not trying to sound like a tough guy, but I would have called that motherfricker out after the driveway/yard incident. No way he didn't notice that. He should have said something to you and apologized at the very least.

I know there are a ton of inconsiderate/oblivious people out there, but that is unacceptable.
