No, I've never understood this ill concept.

People that say things like that are far too stupid to operate a self checkout so they just complain they are having to do someone’s job for them to take the attention off their lack of adaptability. In reality, they aren’t doing anyone’s job because that job doesn’t exist. There isn’t a checker for you do to their job in self checkout because checkers don’t fricking work in self checkout.

So we’re all part time workers for the Waltons every time we use the self checkout.

In Joe Biden's new America, will we be getting W-2's for all the free labor we are giving the Walton Family?

If they would have cashiers at everyone of the 20 or so registers and not just 3 or 4 things would move along swiftly.

That's not going to happen.

Moving on.

I'd rather 12 operational self-checkouts, as opposed to a couple of rude cashiers and broken self-checkouts.

Of course, I only go inside this store if I need a few things. Otherwise, I do the online order and pick-up thing.

The future is here, and $15 an hour min wages will just cause it to spread faster.
So you're OK with not getting paid to do the work of the baggers and cashiers? You don't get a discount on the cost of goods but supply the mega corporation with your labor.

Smart man!

Lord help people get paid a livable wage in return for honest work.
Stockholders could actually absorb a livable wage for people. But, Wall Street will have none of it.

Depends on the self checkout for me.

The one at CVS has worked well so far. But I get so little at a time there anyway. Neighborhood Walmart is okay - they at least always have their employee working that section close by.

Winn Dixie is horrible. It’s the same old machines they had when I worked there 14 years ago. It freaks out and you have to get help if you don’t place every item into the bagging area. So forget tossing something back into your basket after scanning. It even does it for huge things that can’t fit into the bagging area. And their employees are never around to help.

I actually like self checkout but the technology sucks at some places.

Not sure if sarcasm or head. Injury.

The route to a "living wage" is to add value to your skills.

No, but I do get a discount in the form of cheaper goods, and the value of my time as self-checkout is much quicker than a cashier stand.

I thought this was going to be a cool and trashy story, not a painfully detailed explanation of how Walmart’s use self checkouts

Sorry but I'd rather load the belt and let someone scan it for me.

Wait for $15/hour law. You won’t even find a stock boy or anyone in the outdoor section.

I use scan & go at Sam’s and don’t understand why more don’t. Will be thrilled when they roll it out at Walmart.
