I hate to hear this and can sympathize immensely. Yesterday morning one of my dogs (Nahko) passed away and I buried him on the farm. He was actually my daughters dog, but she is working in Big Sky and had no place to keep him. He had been with us for about 10 years. The call to her was heartbreaking. We both cried the whole conversation.

“Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion.
There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.” – Dean Koontz

So sorry. I hate when a pet dies suddenly. I try to tell myself that the pet didn't suffer but very briefly, but the sudden void is hard to accept.
Three and a half years is just too short a time.

So sorry, brother. He's out of pain and running free wherever the Lord sends pups to heaven.

Very sorry for your loss. I still miss my schnauzer that passed in 2011. I have always felt dogs were one of God’s best gifts. A postal customer of mine does chalk and oil portraits of pets that have passed. She did such an amazing job with my schnauzer, I had it framed professionally to do her painting justice. If you or anyone is interested in her work, she is on facebook: Carol DeBaufer Pet Portraits.
