If the hairy armed dude gets your teeth clean and is pleasant to visit, maybe he's the hygienist for you. Also, that dude might end up being a buddy you can go hunting and fishing with. The cute girl might as well if she's into that sort of recreation. However, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will either touch your junk or let you touch theirs. So, go with whoever you get that cleans your teeth well. Why is this so hard?

That’s a lot of words just to say you’re a male hygienist who may or may not have hairy arms.

So much Lulz in this thread.

I’m an oral surgeon so I don’t deal with the hygiene side of dentistry, but if more people would get the SRP (deep cleaning) when it’s indicated then I would be pulling a lot fewer teeth.

Excluding wisdom teeth, I pull way more teeth due to periodontal disease than from decay(cavities).

Ah the ole Deep cleaning scam that all the dentist seem to run. Sure why not? i pay a fortune for dental insurance already and lets make a cleaning that dental insurance doesnt cover So why not just call it a cleaning and have it covered by insurance? Dental offices are joining the lawyers and used car salesman on the slimy scale.

He has never pushed me for any deep cleaning or extra service of any kind. This is actually the first I’ve heard of it.
My cousin the dentist has fired staff for pushing products.

Matter of fact, when I told him MY maternal grandmother (no relation to him, just a patient) didn't like the hygienist pushing something he fired the gal the next day.

Cousin has been at it since like 1978. Sold off his planes and car collection as it is just so much easier to rent/borrow and not have the maintenance, and insurance, etc. expenses.

My dental insurance is like 20 bucks a month for my family, with 3 yearly cleanings and a 2 or 3K coverage.....this is obviously where the poors with no insurance hang out

The dentist we used when I was in high school had a busty, hot hygienist who would wallow her tits on you as she worked (or at least that is how I want to remember it.

Just curious. Is administering (8) .25 triazolam (sp?) overkill for a root canal? In addition to nitrous?
(Led to overdose and ER visit)

Is it normal for the same oral surgeon to break off a tool in your jaw and leave it permanently?

Is it then normal for the surgeon to put a sticky note on your chest that says, "take me to ER" and have a receptionist wheel him out in a wheelchair and dump in wifes car who is waiting with no explanation?

Asking for a friend....

I've had the same hygienist for over 20 years. I'm dreading the day she decides to retire.

I’m a general dentist so I DO see the hygiene side of things and I can tell you that on occasion a patient will need SRP, but more times than not, when a chain office would measure 2 4mm pockets and tell the patient they can’t have their teeth cleaned today because they need to send pre-authorization for a deep cleaning that will be 2 months from now and be handled at two additional visits and oh by the way you need all 7 of your amalgams that have been holding just fine for 25 years replaced too, that same patient comes to my office and my hygienist DOES the deep cleaning without informing or upcharging the patient, numbs them if there’s any slight discomfort pro bono, and we leave the healthy fillings alone. They come back in 6 months and do very well

I think the real enemy here is insurance companies which have caused this by finding any way they can to increase the premiums and reduce or avoid reimbursing the doctor and/or patient appropriately. Couple that with increased student debt and business debt, the income needs to come from somewhere and so either the business owner or the patient ends up suffering

Why would an oral surgeon be doing a root canal?

Are you sure it wasn’t enough an endodontist?

Are you sure the procedure was even a root canal?
