My dental cleaning experience today

Hygienist wanted to do a periodontal cleaning but lady at the front desk said my insurance would only give me a regular teeth cleaning at no charge. So I want the regular cleaning and not pay $160 out of pocket. Hygienist insisted to do the periodontal cleaning. Well, I said I can go some place else for a cleaning then. She claimed that nobody would do a regular cleaning and I laughed. Another person came in and said if I want a regular cleaning that is fine. Now the young first hygienist finally starts. Every 30 seconds it is something: open wider, too wide, chin up, chin down. She told me to turn my head all the way to the right where my chin was touching my shoulder. Then she told me to hyperextend my neck and kept saying more, more. I laughed and said my neck does not bend anymore, Then she told me to relax my lips, WTF, how do you do that. After my 10 minute crappy cleaning I did not even get a bag of free samples. First cleaning in 15 years this has happened. Just got a text message to rate my visit. I requested a call for feedback so I can complain about this attitude problem hygienist. Now I can go back to my old hygienist.

You let a guy put his tool in your mouth and now you’re upset?

That’s what you get for not flossing.

Deep cleaning is the new scam. My dentist just retired so I called at least 10 new ones for a routine new patient cleaning. Almost everyone charges over $234 just for x rays and an exam then you have to make a second appointment for a cleaning at over $100. So at least $350 for a basic cleaning in 2 appointments. Total rip-off.
My old dentist charged $115 for a cleaning, X-rays, fluoride, exam. Finally found one that charges $160 and does it in one appointment.

What time was your appointment? How much time did you you spend conceptualizing this post?

I haven’t been to the dentist in 15+ years.
Brush your teeth twice a day, floss, and only go if you have an issue.
Going twice a year to get your teeth ‘cleaned’ is one of the biggest scams in America.

Going twice a year if you don't have dental insurance may be much...but Jesus baw...15 years????
My company offers dental and I get 2 free a year so I cash in...why not
