The tv in my living room would click on and go full blast.
Scared the shite out of me the first couple times it did it. And one night I was in the kitchen when it came on. I was about to shite my pants until I looked in the livingroom and saw our dog laying on the sofa. I yelled at him to get off... sure enough the bastard keeps laying on the remote and turning the tv on. And I guess turning the volume up in the process.

I used to pull this prank on folks all the time with a universal remote. Great fun in college housing.

You think ghosts could find a better ploy than fricking with our electricity. Maybe like throwing knives at you, or pushing the grandfather clock on top of you.
Stupid ghosts. Nobody is scared of flickering lights anymore.

I had a TV that started doing that on its own. I just replaced the sonofabitch with a new TV. Problem solved. As an earlier poster suggested, it is probably a malfunction on one of the circuit boards. Easier and about the same cost to replace with a new one as it would be to repair it. With a new one you get a fresh start.

Do you have a device that auto updates overnight? Some tv brands will turn on automatically when a device turns on.

You have the wake up option set to on. Turn it off

I have a Samsung and that fricking "ding ding ding doing ding" haunts me.
I never thought anyone else thought this. I hate that sound when it turns on. It's pretty creepy and I don't know why.

My robot vacuum's clock got all screwy and he kicked on to clean the house while we were still sleeping. I had no clue wtf it was, I almost went Yosemite Sam all over the house.

It's just night hags. They just pass through sometimes , nothing to be alarmed about.

I had a TV that did that. I discovered that the sleep/wake setting was turned on set for 2am by accident.
