I would have had to tell my adult son to figure out how to care for the dog. It isnt a real difficult task with or without instructions. You let it out or walk it, you feed it, you water it.

I would probably tell my 11 year old the same thing.

I can write in cursive but can't read other people's cursive half the time because they free style the hell out of it and their handwriting is shite.

No one anywhere ever uses cursive writing anymore. I haven’t seen it since the 3rd grade. I would be surprised if they knew how to read it honestly.

raises hand. I produce a hybrid of print and cursive that fades at the end.

I guess I can't properly gauge this because I know cursive, but to look at this and think "English, Motherfricker" really is mind blowing. I can see maybe 3-4 words that would be hard to figure out, but you should have enough with the rest to understand.

When it starts looking like a bunch of signatures strung together is when I realize they are just trying to look fancy but don't know shite.

Anyone adult that can read print and can't intuitively read cursive is an idiot. There are only a handful of letters that look significantly different.

If it's doctor scribble, then that's a different story.

I get into this argument with my dad all the time. If it's either them learning to code or typing cursive, 10/10 code.

That's where I'm at. Either it's because of terrible handwriting, or the son is a dumbass

Its not about the writing at all.

Its about the work and effort it took to learn it.
This is why I feel it's ridiculous it's not taught anymore.

ETA: It's part of teaching kids how to learn.

It's why they should still be required to learn to use an abacus and a slide rule, too.

Bad handwriting is bad handwriting. Making it all connected doesn’t fix that.

I think There are benefits to basic penmanship . Not just having legibly handwriting but also fine motor skills

I dont Think cursive over regular handwriting makes a big difference with that.
