It's why they should still be required to learn to use an abacus and a slide rule, too.
I mean, they probably should. Not sure about a slide rule, but an abacus is a great visual tool for the basics of arithmetic and grouping numbers.

Wrong
People born in the 80s are like 50 so they’re boomers

Yeah exactly, what am I missing here?
It was probably shitty handwriting.
I'm kind of surprised at how many people here don't get why it's not really taught much anymore since damn near everything is written on a computer or phone now. No shite they didn't learn it. They aren't going to use it.

Not sure. I am sure about Louisiana education standards being at the bottom.

Same here...18 year old son, $100,000 in tuition, straight A student from elementary through graduation, and he can't read/write in cursive.

Yeah, sounds like the kid might be tarded

I'm so glad you came back to make the same irrelevant point a second time. No doubt you are a major contributor to our current rankings.

For important documents, I write in wingdings.

People acting like cursive handwriting is some difficult thing to learn and waste of time. WTF? The Declaration of Independence and Constitution were written in cursive over 200 years ago. Seems like this nations founders saw value in cursive and they were a hell of a lot smarter than you pin heads bashing cursive. Why not leave well enough alone? Why the need to change everything? Why criticize people who prefer cursive? Is writing in cursive racist or something? Does it offend the LGBTQ community?
I think its sad that something as simple and efficient as cursive is being phased out in places. Besides, it takes too damn long to write in print.

So what do you do when you can't type on a keyboard? Making our kids semi-illiterate.

I’m calling blarney on The Mick - my almost 18 and almost 20 year old can read and write cursive
So can the younger ones
And we’re Irish
