I have noticed a trend in recent years with other things like this in other areas of manufacturing such as appliances. Whirlpool is making washing machines that don't clean clothes and ovens that have panels that go crazy when you open the door when it is on to check the food. All the fancy gadgets in the world won't make up for screwing up the basic functionality of the device. Complete incompetence on all levels.

My 66 has its original transmission which works just fine.

Doesn't matter that they suck or that all of the competitors are better. The trailer park dwellers will still buy Ford Mustangs and F-250s to park in the front yard next to their satellite dish until they get repo'd.

They’re finding that the Chinese made MT82 transmission isn’t capable of handling the power of the Coyote 5.0. There’s a reason Ford used a Tremec TR6060 in the GT500 and GT350. The new GT500 doesn’t even have a manual option, it’s a DCT.

How the frick do class action suits work, because they're only asking for $5M. There are like 5 plaintiffs, so that's not bad, but once the class is certified, can anybody join the class or are there some class actions that are limited to the original class that brought the suit? If it is open to add additional plaintiffs, does that damages number go up the more people join the class, or is every owner of a Mustang built since 2010 going to get a check for $0.38 in 2030?

That has more to do with the performance expectations at that level of car. Manuals can't compete with a DCT from a performance perspective.
I had a 2014 5.0 that got beaten on pretty hard. Never had any transmission issues. Reading the Mustang forums it seems that it was a 50/50 shot.

Had a buddy that built a track car out of one...first thing he did was yank the transmission and put an aftermarket in it.
