I used to worry about this when my wife was pregnant with our first son. Then once we actually had kids to drive around, I don't understand how this happens. I've never once forgotten I had one of my boys in the car with me

Guess no one in the parking lot notice a kid through the window?

I'm betting you posted on the original thread from back then. It was a big topic at the time.

He also googled, "How to survive in prison"

I may have, I just don't remember it at all. Which isn't surprising.

Wait, what? Seriously?

Yeah I'd like to see the original thread, or at least a summation of all the facts of what happened.

He 100% did it.

Some of the facts about his visit at lunch and his commute home, combined with what the police said, make that very obvious.

I don't want to get into them because they're too horrific for parents to think about.

If I remember correctly he googled “How long does it take a dog to die in a hot car” a day or two before leaving his kid in a hot car.

He had also gone to his car at lunchtime.

Disregard, why was it initially reported that the investigation found that he and his wife did search for child car deaths, but then at trial it amounted to nothing? Could they not prove the husband searched for it?

His wife said a lot of messed up shite.

She went to daycare to pick up the son and when she realized he wasn't there she said, "Justin must have forgot to drop him off."
Like in the way he forgot to check the mail.
Also she visited him in jail and she was recorded asking him, "Did you say to much" or "You didn't say to much did you" something really suspicious sounding like that.

Uh, yeah. You think this is some kind of a private network?

This web is world wide.

That was a different one, I believe. I don't think that conviction will be overturned.

Oh wow. I reverse my earlier post and maybe it was this one.

A few of the people who left kids to die googled that phrase

I mean, that is pretty good advice unless he had a good attorney present.

Cant you just say the kid is 2 years old?

No one here is going to check the birth certificate and call you out.

Oh yeah, I'm 615 months and 2 weeks old today.

I assume he said that because the article specifically said 22 months.

Change in routine. In almost all cases it's a combination of an non routine dropoff combined with a sleeping child. I understand the disbelief but think of all the other things in your life that you missed because you were on automatic pilot and forgot something non routine. It's human nature. Taking preventative steps ahead of time is a very smart play here.

All of the other things in my life I may have forgotten on auto pilot are not the 2 most precious things in the world to me. I'll say it again, I still don't see how anyone forgets they have their child in the car.

I remember the story and seeing the video of him walking out to his car during lunch. It seemed pretty intentional to me.

The reason the conviction was overturned is because the prosecutor basically built the entire case around him being a sexual deviant and bad person rather than a case around killing his kid.

I’m sure he will be re-tried.

Are you or Coco an admin? Can you post the old thread in here?

I tried searching it but couldn't find it. It's from 2014.

It's harder for me now that I have one, but I still see how it's possible. Sure, it's neglect, plain and simple. But that doesn't mean it's not something that can't happen to a decent parent on a chaotic/bad day.

Anyway, I'm not saying any of that to defend it, I'm saying it to myself to make myself that much more vigilant about it. I'd rather live in constant, irrational fear than have even a brief scare on this topic.
