unpopular opinion here i'm sure but if you shoot someone in the back who poses you no (current) threat then you probably should be charged

different if you're actively defending yourself imo

Well, here's a thought: Don't rob someone if you don't want to get shot. Pulling a gun on someone threatening their life then "changing your mind" does not give you a free pass to move on to your next victim.

Give that man a medal.

Saved us all some tax dollars and made the streets safer.

Need to have a bounty system.

Just because someone has their back to you doesn't make them no threat. They can be moving to cover to fire at you or going for re-enforcements. Plus it all happens so fast. Someone approaches you with a gun, you pull yours to fire at them, they see the gun and spin around, you start to fire.. that can all happen in about a second. Its still self defense..

Easy for you to Monday morning QB the situation. Now imagine these two thugs mug your arse, you are armed with a pistol and your adrenaline is running higher than it ever has in your entire life. The minute you have a chance to pull your gun and pull that trigger you may very well think you are in harms way as this shite goes down in seconds. If they happen to have turned away and got shot in/near the back in the process of a robbery too bad for those assholes. The outcome is a symptom of their decision to initiate the robbery, not of the victim who is in a state of mind he/she likely has never been in.

So don't blame the victim here. Blame the thugs.

I guess it depends. If he's 15 yds away, it might be an issue. 10 ft, maybe not.

When was the last time you saw a story about blacks being robbed by whites at gunpoint?

I guess this might be our last resort to curb some of this activity. There's just so much a community can take before they take matters into their own hands.

idk, just my opinion that if the situation's done and they're leaving, not really posing a threat anymore, don't see the point in plugging someone just because they stole your stuff.

doesn't lessen their wrong at all, but i mean killing someone who's leaving the area and not threatening you anymore is also wrong imo. i think all human life is valuable even shitty humans because shitty humans can be rectified under the right circumstances and taking a life unnecessarily doesn't make sense

if a dude's got a gun in your face and you take him out that's different to me.

If someone threatened your life with a gun, even just to steal your shite, then they are an existing threat until they are eliminated/arrested/etc. A person has the right to defend themselves against them. If they are still armed, it is mutual combat and self defense. The only way this isn't justified is if a witness can say that the muggers dropped their guns, got on their knees, asked for forgiveness and then were executed. Otherwise, the victim was in the right..
