I dont understand your post... "New Orleans foolishness " and then you accurately and succinctly identity the major issues that tis airport is struggling with.

I dont disagree that it is a good thing, but as someone who flies frequently to a lot of airports, there is significant room for improvement.

It is almost as if no thought was given to future expansion in the overall design, when air travel had been trending up, even at old MSY.

I hate when i fly international from MSY gate A sucks. There is nothing out that way. God thing is not that big so you can go to the other gates. But i assume they will add the gates to A instead of build a D.

Where D would go is supposed to be a hotel at some point

Def agree.

The labor force is poor.

Closing access to all first floor restrooms, and most of the elevators on Sundsy night at 10:30, still a busy time, to polish the floors is plain stupid.

There is a direct to Montreal although another one would be great.

I can’t speak to Austin, but Denver is fun - I agree there. DFW and LAX are circuses, but more the amount of people than anything else.

MSY would be a great hub to Latin America and the Caribbean by paying very busy MIA

Houston has that covered

Yet, if they didn’t polish the floors regularly, you’d have someone on here bitching about how they spent all this money on a new terminal and are just letting it go to crap.

iirc concourse A wasn’t originally planned to be a part of the initial build. It was part of the “expansion plans.” Towards the eleventh hour, passenger trends showed it would be needed immediately. Wonder if the timing of the decision had anything to do with the lack of amenities built in.

Lots of questions answered here

If it hasn’t been shared yet, this link clears up some questions about how and where they will build. There will be a second terminal to the West, a new garage on the site of current surface lot with a transit center included, and additional surface parking lots. Plan looks solid. I’m sure it’ll be delayed though.

How this was surprise to anyone that studied nationwide travel trends over the past 20 years is amazing.

And, thanks for posting that link.

Would it be that far fetched to renovate the old terminal and run low cost Carriers from it? Use all that parking and have wheeled tram service similar to dulles between the two? Only reason I'd suggest tram service like dulles is to minimize the risk of of rail/train damage during hurricane.

I believe that one was only seasonal and I don’t think it came back the past year or so, could be wrong.

My favorite thing about MSY is taking that 20 minute bus ride through the Kenner ghetto to get back and forth for car rentals.

That long arse ride used to bother me but now I enjoy watching first timers try to figure out where the hell the bus is going

That is pretty funny.

They're all like, "WTF, did I get in the wrong bus?"
