Its really not. There are much better, more roomy airports that have been built/renovated lately.

His take had nothing to do with other airports. He specifically said he preferred the old msy, which was a complete dump.

However, the security is a cluster and needs to be sorted out

I’ve never had much of an issue. Even when the line is long af it’s never taken me more than 15 mins to get through security.

Besides SLC, which is built to handle connecting traffic, name one.

More than one way to drive to the airport was huge. Being that there is only one way in/out at Loyola and I-10 it is a problem.

Old location was prime.

The land is sinking, the terminal itself is fine.

Or as fine as any other building in S. La

Busch League?

Bush League
Definition
"Bush league" describes something that is below professional standards.

Origin
With "bush" being a synonym for a rural area, non-Major League clubs in small towns were referred to as bush league teams in the early days of baseball. The term has come to be used often outside of baseball.

Or maybe they just drink a lot of cheap beer there...

Still a bus ride to get a rental car

They are building a connection that will be via bus but not leave the property. Says will cut time in half

Taking buses to rentals once you get to an airport or in order to get to from rental to an airport sucks.

This is extremely common and basically the norm. The ride is currently a little long at MSY, but at least there’s a centralized rental car facility. Most larger airports you have to 1) identify which rental car shuttle to board, 2) take the ride, and 3) deal with one of many mostly substandard, individual rental facilities.

My favorite thing about MSY is taking that 20 minute bus ride through the Kenner ghetto to get back and forth for car rentals.

So they have an exiting terminal not in use with 47 gates and they're going to build another 30 gates?

As someone who flies out of MSY weekly, I would love this. Delta is already making AUS a mini-hub and I could see an airline doing the same with MSY. I really wish there was enough demand to have some international flights by the European carriers. It would be amazing if Air France added a daily from CDG.

MSY parking is a disaster; not enough and offsite parking is ridiculous. It's 2025, why can't I reserve a spot online?

ETA: You csn reserve a spot ahead of time, I stand corrected.

MSY is still poorly-managed, with cleaning services shutting down all the bathrooms on a given floor at the same time. Getting through security can still be painfully slow. And usually, at least one elevator or escalator is broken.

Baggage crews could be improved, but seem to be a vit better than they were.

Agreed

The parking is the one major issue.

Another major issue is picking people up. It is a perpetual clusterfrick. There simply isn’t enough room.

Still, this expansion, if done correctly, can be an economic catalyst for the area.

After 9/11, I saw suggestions that select airports be used as international points of entry.

Im not in favor of that, but IF that were to happen, I would suggest below as a rough (preliminary) alignment:

NY, Boston, Philly, DC = Europe
Charlotte = Africa

Miami = South America / Lesser Antilles

Nola = Central America / Greater Antilles

Houston = Mexico

Detroit = Middle East

Seattle = Japan / Russia

San Fran = Northern China / Koreas

Los Angeles = South Pacific / Australia/ NZ / Southern China

Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Denver would be designated as connecting hubs within the USA

However, all four could have direct, outbound flights to overseas destinations.

In essence, imho…if the above idea were implemented (which I’m not in favor of) what is shown may be a more structured way to deal with foreign visitors / arrivals / return flights.

You actually can do this.... but keep bitching about something you clearly have no knowledge on.

You’d be surprised by the list of airlines wanting to fly out of MSY.

Agree with this. When they opened the new terminal a number of airline employees I spoke with said that they wanted more flights and to use old terminal. Space was the limit, not interest

One thing worse is having to take a bus when parking your own vehicle because short and long term are both full.

This! Flying back home today. Both LT and ST were closed when I flew out. Gotta tote my 70lb pelican and luggage to the parking next to the rental center. It feels apocalyptic over there.

I would be all for this if they would at least DOUBLE the amount of parking available.
