You can live in glorious Secaucus.

I don't get some of y'all's hangups on so many square feet.
I'm not hung up on anything, I personally live in a 1BR apartment in Atlanta that's about 860 sqft. I can't imagine paying ~$700K for a place half as big as mine.

LSU alumni NYC chapter pretty sizable? I'll make it over to Legends for the games for sure. I've heard it described as "Bogie's North", is that accurate?

do you know the NYC tax rate?

I'll talk to the mayor about putting up a plaque to apologize for allowing 9/11 and the Marathon Bombing to occur. It's the least the city could do.

In Manhattan, while single, you will get used to the small square footage. The time you spent in the apartment will be a lot less than you think, when there are coffee shops, restaurants, neighborhood bars, etc. all within a block or two of where you live. I would also recommend finding a place within 5 blocks or so from at least a small park. If it's Central Park, Bryant Park, Washington Sq Park, all the better.
Also, check out the free events at the larger parks, especially in the summertime. While the symphony playing in Central Park doesn't seem very interesting now, add a bottle of wine, some cheese, and a girl, and it becomes a romantic cheap date. That's one of the reasons I recommend living in the city. You can do things like that easily.

The coolest thing is that all the SEC bars are within a couple miles of each other, so you can hang out with Kentucky people for the noon game, Gumps (actual alumni--they exist, and they're nice) for the CBS game, and then LSU for the night game...stuff like that.
Every one of these bars is crawling with seriously fine arse.

A one bedroom condo in Manhattan will run you about a mil. Studio 750k.
And don't forget HOA fees and taxes. NYC taxes.
I have a condo in Arlington and the HOA alone is nearly $500/month. I can't imagine NY is better.
That said, it's a great city for a young single guy. You should be slaying it left and right in no time.

Yeah, the alumni events/games at the bars are awesome. Probably the best environment to watch an LSU game, outside of Tiger Stadium. And I've been to a lot of different out of state alumni gatherings.

Probably, I just know that's where me and the other broke asses stay when visiting NYC.

For real tho living in NYC would be awesome. What a great experience that would be.

I wish I would have done something similar at a younger age. Would have been great to get out of La and make a living seeing some new things.

You can get a studio in a co op for under 550k

I couldn't give up my car in NYC. I'd cough up the $600 a month for parking so I'd have the freedom to go anywhere I'd want, whenever I want, w/ whoever I want.
Saving and stashing back cash is important to me, that's one of the first things I put money in, my Oh shite! account gets fed first.
I'm guessing you've never been to New York because they have the greatest public transportation in the country where u can get anywhere u want anytime you want. In fact, it's quicker to travel by subway because traffic in the city is an absolute nightmare, as is parking. I would never in a million years want to own a car in Manhattan.

And a single guy making 6 figures in his late 20s? I would think you would have your pick of some really hot women in NYC.
No offense, but look up the cost of living there via Forbes or Business Insider. That's roughly the equivalent of making $50k in BR.
Posted on 5/8/16 at 5:42 pm to Grateful Reb
6 figures is a very large range. Making $999,000/year is still making 6 figures. You're assuming he'd be making 100k. Could be anywhere in between.
