It's easy...

People in Dallas don't like Houston and vice versa.

I would contend that traffic is a tad better here in DFW than Houston.

DFW is more upscale and a little more snooty. A lot a 30killionaires (especially in uptown).

Houston doesn't have a place like Ft.Worth.

Ft. Worth is more "Country" esque from the times i've been there. Definitely walks a slower pace compared to Dallas.

Whelp I live in North Dallas, there is serious money up here. Like it or not.

Frisco and Plano are going to be major urban center's in 2 more years if not NOW.

Billions of dollars being invested.

Uptown may be a lost cause, but Dallas is much much more than Uptown.

Do Dallas and Houston have any dive bars or are they all like "trendy faux-dives"?

I live in North Dallas as well, but the people who live in Plano aren't the ones talking about how trashy the people who live in The Woodlands are (for the most part). It's those uptown types that are circulating that thinking.

I can't speak for Houston, but Dallas certainly has both types.

Idk what you constitute dive bar, but during the LSU Wisconsin game in Houston I stumbled on some bar called Mongoose vs Snake or something like that. Drinks were great. Would go there again in a heartbeat.

West Alabama Ice House seems like the closest thing to a "dive" that I have experienced in Houston

Actually living in Houston. Inside the loop. You get what you pay for.

If he's young and has no kids, midtown, heights, rice village, or eado is perfect.

Renting has it's advantages when you have no kids and want a social life that doesn't include going to Sherlocks in the woodlands. Eww

I'm 30. I do have 1 kid, so I'm sure that makes some difference. I go hang out in the Heights every once in a while. Not one time have I ever thought the bar scene, vibe, or anything was worth living there. Only thing I don't like about living in the woodlands is being so far from Astros games. It'd be nice for that to be an easier trip.

To be honest, my wife and I don't give two shits about the bar scene. Just never our thing, even in college. Would much rather save that money we'd spend on going to the bars for nice trips.
