9th highest on the list I saw. 166k median house value seems off. That where I live in BR. How much of Montgomery county is shitty L.P. trailer parks nowadays?

All seriousness. It's much better than BR. But I'm not a Houston fan. Would rather be in a smaller city

I think Houston would be in my bottom 10 of "big" cities to move to. It all feels incredibly generic, there is no real character. Feels like the entire city is one big strip mall, it's sprawling expressways, the zoning makes no sense, so you have a high rise office building next to a house, next to a strip mall next to an apt building. Weather is unbearable in the summer.

(I'm sure there are "nice areas", but every city has those).

Sounds like OP is moving to a decent spot, though, outside town.

I agree. Be ready for Houstonians in Katy to be upset.

Found this out while at LSU, but zoning makes no sense in Houston because there are no zoning laws.

Everything you said about Houston is pretty true for the most part. There are definitely some nice and unique parts of Houston, and I'm biased since I live there but The Woodlands definitely has a lot of character with all the trees and how natural they try to keep it. As far as personal and career opportunities go, there are probably few places better though (especially if you are in oil and gas in any capacity).

My apartment complex - loved how well they managed their complex and only allowed the best of people in. My puppy will greatly miss randomly finding chicken wing bones that were just thrown in the grass.

Don't worry, we have some of those here in The Woodlands too.

If it's so bad, why'd you move there to begin with?

You do know that some people can be born in BR right?

You will love it here. I miss nothing except LSU sports. There is better Louisiana food here than most places in Louisiana.
