I don’t know what the rent looks like there, but I’m fairly familiar with what apartments are selling for there.
Exaggerated? Maybe a little. But not by much. Real estate is pretty nuts there.

6th street is pretty shitty now.
yeah, I think the whole Austin scene is overrated, was just making a joke, I'll probably just have my chopper pick me up at midfield after the game and take me home

Thanks for the only real response so far
That would be a 10-20 minute drive to the office. Perfect area to start the search.

It was pretty awesome first few times I went through there in 2005. Grew too fast

I second this. You would be close to work and you could Uber into town when you want to go out. Rent will cheaper so you will save money.
This will also put you out pretty far west and more into the Hill County. If you like the outdoors, hiking, fishing, skiing, golf, etc., it will be all around you.

I've had some good times there but it does seem to have taken a bit of a seedy turn, seems like there was a growing influx of wannabe white rapper/gangsta/thug types, enough for me to cross it off the list, but who am I to talk? I still like going to the quarter every once in awhile

It's the sole reason I went from loving the place to completely avoiding it. It's that bad.

That entire Bee Cave area is pretty.

The quarter has history though and an ambience about it. 6th street is like any other strip of bars. Maybe it's because I dont really like the new music scene with the younger kids play.

I don't know much about Bee Cave, but it sounds fairly nice. I'm not a suburbs guy is my only concern.

I’d recommend getting an apartment locator, they are free to you, knowledgeable and can sometimes get you better rates.

I rent a duplex in Dallas, which is great because my wife and I have a backyard for our two dogs. Ideally, I'd like a similar setup.
I get a steal for my place in Dallas though, about $400 a month less than the average two-bedroom in our Zip Code. I'm not sure I could find something similar again in Austin. I'm open to anything really.
Which apartment locators have you used before?

plenty of apartments, easy access to the few major roads you'll need, close to where you'll be working
already halfway to where you want to be on weekends
