Wendy Vitter ain’t rewarding shite
I don’t do federal criminal law but what’s the law say about her going over the sentencing guidelines? That’s more likely than any meaningful downward deviation.

You’d be surprised how often no one reads those ISO reports. I have seen some crazy shite go ignored until caught later on.

These were all staged deep pocket (million $ limits + umbrella limi) claims so police report would be a high probability.
Bus accidents in major cities may have 3 riders but 10 minutes later they fill up.

I was watching the WWL legal analyst a minute ago he says sentencing will likely be a “bloodbath” considering that mail/wire fraud counts are supposed to be compounded (consecutive not concurrent), years are based on monetary value of the fraud (many many millions here), and of course the witness tampering and obstruction of justice. And Vitter made it clear when she remanded Motta that she believes Motta had knowledge of and “acquiesced to” the hit on garrison.
and then there’s restitution AND the likely staggering cost of investigating and prosecuting this case over 7 years LOL.

Yep. It gets missed a lot. And it’s only as good as the info the carriers claim system feeds them. Sometimes it’s just very basic info and you have to dig. The random people that major carriers are now hiring for as cheap as possible aren’t digging.

And there’s no way the government agrees to now let her testify against Alfortish in exchange for some possible leniency. Everything you quoted hanging over her head makes her credibility as a witness against Alfortish laughably nonexistent.
Her play was to plead and sing beforehand knowing this avalanche of terribleness was possible.
I don’t understand her thought process. But she tripled down with the convicted fraudster and at least agreed to look the other way when he (allegedly) commissioned a murder. Maybe she’s the real narcissistic sociopath here.

more savagery
quote:
Outside court, Jeff Brockton, the father of Motta’s child, said he agreed with the verdict and was ready for his family to move forward.
“I’m worried more about my daughter at this moment. We have a person that has committed a crime, clearly has committed a crime, and the jury found her guilty,” Brockton said.

Since i first heard the news about these scams a couple years ago, ive been kinda hoping Vanessa wouldnt get the whole book thrown at her, since i knew her a little bit back in the days, and to me she didnt seem like a terrible person, maybe someone who got caught up and made mistakes .. but if it comes out that she was complicit in murder, then yeah that’s the type of mistake you need to pay big for .

Like boosie said above, and to go even further…when murdering a federal witness became part of the scam, all she had to do was call the FBI. That’s what any non-sociopath would do. There’s no explanation or excuse at this point
it’s insane how brazen this all was…and all for money

You’re not wrong, but Vanessa i think only moved to NOLA within like the last 10 or 12 years.. i believe she’s originally from Miami, dont quote me on that .

here are the specifics of the witness tampering and obstruction counts
quote:not great, bob
The jury also found MOTTA and MOTTA LAW guilty of obstruction of justice and witness tampering relating to an effort to pay a witness to move to the Bahamas to impede any cooperation with federal authorities. The jury likewise found GILES and THE KING FIRM guilty of obstruction of justice and witness tampering for secretly recording a charged individual in October 2020 in an effort to manufacture exculpatory evidence.

Weirdly, I’ve known many of the main players, on the plaintiff and defense side, for many years. So it’s been odd to mostly not say much here for concern of doxxing and whatnot. And I can’t even say much more than that, other than Giles was always cool towards me but I often heard of really bad douchey episodes. I think most people then liked him, he was funny and sorta charismatic but not so much when he would get into his ego or pomposity, which gradually got to be more and more. Ended up so off the rails.
Good that Justice was done, truly. Anything less would have been a mockery of anything decent, and God knows we got enough mockery of decency going on these days.

think this one got squirrelly because the slammers would get out of the car and others would get in and make claims. You didn’t have a lot of overlap of claimants and witnesses until the scheme developed for a little bit.
Yeah, through discovery some of the main guys phone numbers were noted in multiple cases by some brilliant lawyer.
I’ll have to refer back to notes but I think the early stuff was even brought before a certain EDLA judge who summarily dismissed them then.
