North Carolina hands down. It has everything. Mountains and beaches, snow skiing and sailing, barbecue and seafood, moonshine and the Research Triangle... The state is gorgeous.

Salt Lake City and Provo. Gorgeous, and the Mormon influence is slowly being voted out.

In SLC, yeah, but Provo is still over 90% Mormon, so it will be a little while until Mormon influence is voted out there.

Texas, if you can stand the heat. Any of the big cities can cater to anyone if done right

Sand Mountain in Northeast Alabama near Scottsboro is really nice. Close to Huntsville and Chattanooga. Fort Payne and Lookout Mountain on the east side and the Tennessee River on the west side.

Depending on the area, I would say New Mexico.
You can literally snow ski in the morning and play golf that afternoon all within a few miles. (Sandia Peak just outside of Albuquerque)

Tennessee has something for everyone and I'd go with North Carolina as well.

Kentucky certanly doesn't lack for tourists, at least in the western two thirds of the state. Bourbon, horses and one of the best state park systems bring in plenty. If we could just give the eastern third to WV...

I am originally from Kentucky, and quality of life is pretty damn high there for most people. I've lived all over America, and it really has a lot going for it: your dollar goes far, the weather is fairly moderate (similar to Tennessee or North Carolina), it's beautiful, pretty laid back, crime isn't bad outside of a few parts of Louisville and Lexington, strong local communities, etc., etc.

Louisville is a really high quality town with lots to do and not super-expensive, but it doesn't have the anchor industry to explode like Nashville (healthcare), Austin (tech), or Portland (sports and tech).

Two thirds of the population of the state lives in the triangle formed by Louisville, Lexington, and the Cincinnati suburbs (something like 2.5 to 2.75 million people). Quality of life is pretty high in that area.

It's everything east of Lexington that is really, really rough. Take away that part of the state, and Kentucky would probably be about middle of the road in most of those income/quality of life/education/etc. statistics instead of the bottom ten. Something like twelve of the twenty poorest counties in America are in eastern Kentucky. It's quite stark once you cross I-75 - you go from pretty nice middle America to third world with a quickness.

Definitely agree on Utah. Michigan outside of Detroit and Flint is also heavily underrated. Western Michigan in general is one of my favorite places in the country, especially during the summer, and a lot of the Detroit suburbs are super nice.

That’s awesome. What part of Montana if I may ask? I’ve considered this as well but have heard Bozeman and Missoula have gotten really crowded. Of course, “crowded” by Montana standards might be a different story.

He's in Springhill Park just a few miles north of Bozeman.
