Most Underrated State to Live in

ive been visiting Kentucky for the last few days and it really doesn’t seem like all that bad a place to live/raise a family
Ive noticed very little culcha, low cost of living, you get all 4 seasons, Economy seems to be pretty strong, strong job market. Lexington and Louisville seems to have pretty good night life.
This morning It was 65 degrees and beautiful out. Meanwhile it’s the peak of swamp arse season is Louisiana.
I would say only knock would be no professional sports teams. And I don’t really care for college basketball

Never been to Kentucky but for me, New Mexico (Santa Fe area) and South Carolina (near Charleston along the coast)

Excellent hunting and fishing in Kentucky also.

Landmass.
Low cost of living, with big city amenities a 1-2 hour drive from a lot of places.

This too. Saw couple turkeys on our morning run actually. Lots of deer here as well

I’ve only been here a few weeks, but I can tell already that Omaha, NE would be a pretty underrated place to live.
I don’t plan to stay here long term, but I’m impressed.
ETA I’ve spent the last 4 years in the Midwest, and you DO start to miss the culture and personality of the South. Louisiana has so many problems that the Midwest doesn’t, but dammit are they vanilla up here. I miss the flava!

Utah and Kentucky are both good choices. Oregon outside of Portland would be another nice place to live.

Omaha and Lincoln are nice. There's not much else in Nebraska though. I was there in about 2009 in February for a month working on a project and the warmest it got one whole week was like 9-10 degrees though

Utah. Live near SLC to avoid Mormons. Low taxes, 3 hours from Moab. 4 hours from Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. Hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and views on views

No fricking way. One of the happiest days of my life is the day my username no longer applied.

I'll go with New Mexico or Arizona simply because several people in the other thread seem to think they're just empty desert or like Phoenix.

Idaho is pretty cool, some nice mountains and plenty of land. Underrated for sure.

I love the seasons. The only place where I think I'd enjoy the weather without seasons would be San Diego. Even then, I'd miss waking up to a 30 degree morning sometimes.
My happy place would be coastal Oregon or Washington but my wife would never move that far away.
