Fritz Haber's invention of the Haber-Bosch process.

He has fed the world.

By now, it has to be A/C.

We don't really think of it because we all (God bless if you dont) have air conditioning. In fact, refrigeration in general, has had such a massive impact on modern life and is just one of those things that people take for granted. Just imagine how much effort and/or money bacon and eggs would cost without refrigeration.

And later used the process to develop advanced explosives for the Nazi war effort. Dude was complex as hell. Have you read Alchemy of Air? A terrific detailed account of his life and works.

Id like to nominate myself for my "sparkling coffee" creation

Recipe:

12 oz ice-cold sparkling water
4 oz cold brew coffee (preferably concentrated)

Air conditioning.

It essentially opened up huge stretches of the planet for (tolerable) habitation and provides an immense amount of comfort for countless humans and their pets.

The atomic clock. Without it, few things in modern society would work.

No. Thanks for the recommendation though.

Veritasium did a really good video on Fritz. Well worth the watch.
