This factors in. Also a reason why lawyers probably aren't overpaid.
It's not "value" oriented, but justifications for salaries are present when 7 or more years of school is required, as opposed to professions where the quality of the school and length of schooling aren't at issue.

Tipping is optional, personally I opt out. No Tipping = no over-paying for waiters.
A respectful grin that enhances self esteem is worth more than a few meager dollars.

Agreed. Amateurs are just as good at making a flick.

I love how they have surgeons on that list. Any of the medical fields listed on that list are certainly not overpaid.

How many nurses you think are smart enough to finish med school?

Business Analysts only need an AA for the most part. I'm a EE and don't see the need for them. They keep overhead high and have really no technical skill set.

Obviously the 77% who think financial advisors are overpaid haven't fricked up their finances

reminds me of a new hire flight attendant that asked me how long the training was for a new hire pilot, when I told her her eyes got big and said "you mean if I had gone to school for two more weeks I could have been a pilot?!"

I think too, with Lawyers, it is partly people's perception based on the industry 10-20 years ago. Today's market is so saturated with attorneys, it is pretty hard to make a really good living unless you've been doing it for a long time. I use to work with a bunch of attorneys, and they definitely were not overpaid. I think that market is quickly becoming less and less overpaid.

They all got raises in Terrebonne parish. They'll be asking again next year

Maybe they are not aware of how much malpractice insurance costs for a surgeon.
I'm sure this is part, though I doubt they care. To most people doctor = rich.
People have no clue how billing works for surgery. If I do 5 different procedures on someone, the % reimbursement decreases with each procedure. Meaning if I go do a bunion and 4 hammer toes on someone, by the time I get to the 5th toe I'll be lucky to get $100 for it...and you best believe I'm just a liable for the 5th procedure as the 1st.
People also don't realize that what a surgeon gets paid for a surgical procedure also includes a 90 global period, which means 3 months of treating the patient post op without reimbursement.

what are you doing posting from school? get back to work!

Notice on the lists how the "overpaid" careers requires years sometime decades of hard work and effort whereas most of the "underpaid" require a GED if even that.
