I just researched a good bit and some dealers don't even offer up all the rebates available. Made for a quick walk out.
Three things:

1) Have your own financing or cash to pay.
2) Pick what model vehicle you want and search every dealer in your radius with that model.
3) Offer YOUR deal to each. Then work it from there.

How do you find out dealer invoice?

My local credit union has a book that has dealer invoice prices.

I'm sure you can google and find it too.

The best I've done is buy a Jeep from the dude who also happened to be a State Farm salesman. I told him if he'd knock off a couple thousand, I'd buy my car insurance through him. The total came off lower than break even so I think I did ok. Three years later when Katrina flooded it, they paid what I originally paid, so it was a complete wash.

Holmes Honda in Shreveport. It was the last 2013 they had back in November. We walked away twice before finally buying it 2 weeks later.

The car I have now had a sticker price of $32K and I got it for $23K.

There was no negotiations, though. It was in the paper as a "one at this price" deal. It just so happens that it had the exact options I wanted and it was in the exact color I desired.

Bought my wife a new 2013 Pilot for $32k while sticker was $39.7 @ 0.9% interest in September. Hard to believe someone got it for $23k. That is a huge dealer loss.

There's really no set number, it's gonna be different between manufacturers, models, and rebates

That's said the last vehicle I bought had a sticker of 64k and I got it for 51.5k
