Three of the four poorest regions in America are in SEC states:

- Mississippi Delta
- Eastern Kentucky

I read somewhere a while back that if you take out 6 counties in the Mississippi Delta that the entire states Obesity rating, poverty rank, and education rank all go from 50 to the mid 30's. Not sure if that's entirely accurate maybe someone can confirm or tell me I'm an idiot

Also, I submit Gordo, AL. Always found it funny to be riding through there and see a shack with clothes on racks out front and a sign saying "gordo mall"

Have a hunting lease near Selma and college kid in GA. Uniontown needs to be bypassed.

anything west of I-45 in texas minus the hill country interests me none at all. it's depressing growing up with pine trees everywhere and not having them, CS was very depressing my first year of college.

But i think if i had to live in starkville, or anywhere in MS that isn't on the coast I would have to kill myself.

Here's the deal about the Mississippi Delta. Every Southern state has a bad area. The Delta is just half the freaking state instead of a small area.

If you took the Delta out, Mississippi definitely jumps to the middle 50% on all the stuff they are last in.

"Selma, Alabama"

My hometown. It's a mess for sure but there are plenty of much smaller and much worse places in Alabama. Selma at least has some nice neighborhoods and a great stock of old antibellum homes from being an important city from the time of the Civil War to the Civil Rights era. A steadily declining, dying city but far from the worse

Apopka, FL. 1988. What a shithole then.

Oddly i liked Apopka much more then. The depressing town are the ones in north central florida, riddled with dried up lakes.

Winnsboro is hopping, man. The rest I agree with. My vote goes to Ferriday.
