Was coming to post this. If the armpit of planet earth has an a-hole, Lake Providence is it.
Why is lake providence so depressing and lake bruin so much fun.
They share a lot of similar qualities but bruin is a blast to go to

Mendenhall, Mississippi

Really? I don't mind Pickens that much. Close to table rock, and Greenville. Easley is right there and is growing.
I don't know I don't put Pickens on the same level as some places I've been to in MS.

Does Ferriday suck worse now than it did about 35 years ago? I hear it's pretty bad nowadays.

Ferriday sucks to drive thru.

If you fail to mention Leesville, LA then this list is a sham

Again this makes zero sense to me. Greenville is awesome.

This sounds much more like South Augusta or Hephzibah, GA.

Ferriday, LA.
I'm convinced that the reason it produced Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmy Swaggart and Mickey Gilley is because they had the drive to make sure they never returned to that dead end town.
There may be worse but that one certainly sticks out of the areas I travel through.

Take it, either you're in coal, natural gas, a contractor of sorts, or a lawyer. Which towns in Eastern Kentucky? I've been to them all. Pretty country and folk...would say, the most depressing is Manchester.

There are no cities in Eastern Kentucky..just towns. Closet to a city is Pikeville, which is turning out to be a nice place to live. Ashland used to be nice when Valoline was there, it's run down now since they relocated to Lexington (Ashland Oil).

to be honest, Tuscaloosa might as well be in Mississippi....

There are more nice neighborhoods and homes north of the river alone in Tuscaloosa than in the entire city limits of Auburn
