She didn't drift off at some point without maybe realizing she fell asleep?

I slept for like 2 non consecutive hours over a 100 hr period. Alcohol...had an increased effect on me for sure.

Is there a certain point when its a good idea to go see a doctor? In your case, was it something you were concerned about?

I've had trouble sleeping my entire life, even when I was a baby/kid and all the other kids were napping regularly. Not only can I still not take a nap to this day, I get about 2-4 hours of sleep every night and it's always been that way. I've been to doctors and tried everything from melatonin, ambien, and remaron (which worked but made me feel worse). Aside from having insomnia somewhat, I am 100% healthy and actually feel worse if I sleep more than 4 hours.

I finally went to a doctor that wasn't trying to sell me anything and shot it to me straight - everyone is different when it comes to sleep, and as long as you're not suffering physical or mental effects from lack of sleep and feel relatively normal, keep doing what you're doing. He basically went on to tell me that the "8 hours of sleep per night" that you constantly hear is more or less a lie, or a sales tactic advanced by the mattress and sleep aid industry.

To answer the question in the OP, I fairly regularly go one night without sleep and am just fine. Worst it's been is 2 nights in a row with zero sleep, and that's happened to me a few times. The key to recovering from it is to make sure you only sleep a normal nights worth when you DO actually fall asleep, and not 2 nights worth.

That can kill you. Seriously.

Oh yeah, I was getting delirious by the end. Worked 1 dog, had something come up and didn't sleep before I worked the next one (which wasn't uncommon), no big deal.

Got home from that set and didnt sleep because we worked days next set and I would stay up and sleep at night to reset,
Got a call out to work that night so I had been up...

72 hours at that point? Plus a 12 hour shift and a drives

Sooooo, closer to 80 hours then. I was damn delirious by the end. Slept for about 12 hours straight.

A little? I've stayed up 2 nights in a row a a handful of times and maybe close to 3 once or twice. After 2 nights, I'm seeing shite, everywhere.
