Definitely mosquitoes. I can’t walk outside without letting 5 fly in. Most I’ve ever seen.

I'm seeing a ton of both mosquitos and crane flies.
Definitely a different type of mosquito than we normally see in south Louisiana. They're everywhere as someone mentioned, on porches, siding, bushes, etc, but don't seem as aggressive? Doesn't seem like I've been bitten like normal mosquitos, but I haven't been outside a whole lot.

I was about to say it's most likely the mosquito hawk (aka crane fly) that everyone is seeing.
In my area, mosquito hawks are another name for dragonflies

My back porch was fricking covered with them last week.

I think I know the difference. I literally killed over 100 mosquitos this past weekend.

You're obviously from Texas. We call them "Daddy long legs" on the east side if the state line. Yes, they're out in force.
No way people in Louisiana call mosquito hawks daddy long legs. WTF do y'all call daddy long legs?

Or did Bill Gates release some in our area?

Come on, man. True Louisiana baws can handle mosquitoes like they’re nothing. Hell, here in SE Texas we got them pretty bad too.

I wish I could smack you with my fly swatter. We know the difference between the two.

I don't think there are actually many regular biting mosquitos flying around at all.

More people than you realize do not.

EPA regs and a shite city-parish government have reduced abatement.

I’ve lived in Louisiana all my life. It’s mosquitos and mosquito hawks both. And I’ve never seen so many this this early in the year. It is crazy.

How so, specifically?

Same in Prairieville yesterday. They were all in the yard. Every step would flush hundreds up. There had to be 10,000 in my yard yesterday. I napalmed them with bifen in sprayer for whole yard along with fences and walls.
Today I had dead mosquitoes everywhere.

You don’t say? South LA is basically a huge swamp. Of course there’s going to be a shite ton of mosquitoes. You just gotta learn to live with it.
BR’s climate and terrain is identical to the woodlands. You act like it’s in an entire separate region with a different climate.

I have never seen this many mosquitoes and I’ve been living in BR over 60 years. Thousands on my back patio and carport. They were a little better yesterday but terrible again today. I walked in the back yard and swarms of them flew up. My vehicles outside are covered with them. And it’s definitely mosquitoes. Called city parish and they are coming Wednesday to spray my yard.
