During the week I'm up at 3:30 and at the gym by 4 but I'm also in bed by 8 during the week. 36 with two kids so I have no time or energy in the afternoon plus it's to crowded.

37 with busy kids and work shift work so I go around 8am every day I'm off and mid day when I'm on nights. The 7 days/month I'm on days, I get on the treadmill at home or rest.

I'm in the gym at 5am everyday. 26 w/o kids and don't live with my SO. Switched to mornings about 2 years ago and will never go back. I feel awake and fresh at work (get in an hour earlier) and I'm more productive. Also your afternoon is yours when you get off. You don't have to pick between working out and something else after work (game, happy hour, dinner w/ friends).

36 with 2 soon to be 3 kids... so whenever I can. Try to stack 3-4 days closer to the weekend when I have more time.

in high school and college, i loved morning workouts. now, if i don't go between 9am-7pm, it's not happening that day.

I work shift work so when I'm on nights I go in the morning when I get off and when on days I go in the evening. Going in the morning after being up all night sounds miserable to most but I catch a second wind once I get there and truth be told I prefer that to the evening workouts. The evening workouts are more crowded (especially Monday's because of the 1 and done chest people) and I don't get home until after 8 so it's pretty much eat, shower, bed. On my days off I go around lunch

What time are you guys winding down and going to sleep? And what is the routine from the point of waking up to getting to work in the morning when a workout is involved? I wake up at 5:30 every morning to shower, dress, eat, take care of the dog and leave by 6:30 (have 1.5hr commute). trying to figure out a way to implement a workout routine as I have free weights and bench in the garage collecting dust.

Whatver I have time to do. Usually mornings.

Morning, garage gym, 35 w/four kids.
I switched to mornings or lunch when my first two kids were 3-5; realized I was missing the whole evening.
Big point - your morning is the easiest part of your day to own. The rest of the day might be stressful, you might miss meals, etc and destroy your evening workout.
Also, I moved my hardest workout to Sunday and love the freedom it gives. I can take two full hours if I want.

Great question. And to follow up, how much sleep do y'all get? Especially when you have kids?

I wake up at 4:00, get to gym around 4:30 then work at 6:30. You get used to it and it sets the tone for the rest of the day. My son just turned one and I already get home too late to workout in the evening, I dont want to miss that time with him. I usually wind down around 7:30 once we put him to bed. I go lay in bed around 9:00-9:15.

I vary but with two kids sometimes it's a lot easier to get a workout in in the early morning around 4:30 or 5 am.
I prefer evening, though.
I'm in my mid 30's and it's harder in the morning than in the evening IMO.

Varies with me depending on work, kids, wife schedule. I'll do morning ad afternoon if I know I'm going to miss a day later in the week. If in town I like weekend workouts cause the gym isn't crowded

I work alternating days/nights shiftwork.
Working days, I'm up at 3am, in the gym no later than 3:30 and at work for 4:30. Those are my "hit everything a little bit" days. I don't like being the stinky guy in the gym after work and I'm not taking 2 showers after I get off.
Working nights, I'm up at 11 or so and in the gym for about 12:30-1:00. Lunch break crowd is rolling out and the gym is empty.
Off days, I'm either in there between 9:00 and 11:00 or 12:30-1:00. Again, no crowd.
27 wife and a kid. Multiple babysitters between the gym and I. Sometimes I'll bring the youngin in with me and stick her on the iPad and she follows me around.

I'm early morning - usually in the gym by 4:45 AM.
But, I'm 43, married, and have a 7-year old. If I worked out after work, then I'd never see my kid during the week.

Run in the morning before work and move some weights in the early evening after work.
