I’ve heard names of what I’m assuming are big modern country artists but I couldn’t tell you a single song from any of them.

only exception I've heard is in a tribute show, my daughter(no pics,) bought us tickets to see a tribute to Greg Allman at the Beacon theater in NYC last December, I'd never heard of any of the musicians paying "tribute," all country artists, my daughter knew all of them, it was an awesome show, really good singing and great guitar playing, when I got home I googled them and almost all of them were Grammy winners, had current number one albums, song, etc., not into country but those dudes were pretty damn good at covering the Allman Brothers

I just don’t see the need to clarify that there are technically a handful of songs in history that are worse. I was just making a point it is a horrible, terrible song

It also doesn’t have the tone that it doesn’t take itself too seriously, like something like achy breaky heart or even queen of my double wide does

How funny that you’re the one wanting me to look up the meaning of a word when you’re sitting here admitting you listen to the most low-brow, written for the least common denominator music out there.

I'm not a fan of it particularly but Dodge paid her a shite ton of money to use it in one of their marketing campaigns...

So somebody likes it. But given the recent trend of incredibly dumb marketing campaigns, who TF knows at this point.

The only reason that Ram chose that song is because it has the word ‘truck’ in it. If it said “I got a a heart like a ______” it would not have been used. They didn’t get it because it’s some deep song with lots of meaning.

I’m over 50 and know who he is, though I couldn’t name any of his songs other than his cover of Isbell’s Cover Me Up.

One of the dumbest fricking songs in the history of songs.

Never heard it but I would like to nominate the Applebees song. It can’t be worse than that, right?

Wasn’t someone saying Dodge picked this garbage up for advertising? She’s driving a Ford in the music video

The state of country music in the current year, lmfao

It isn't just "the current year". It's been terrible for a long time (have to hear it every time I'm in the wife's car ). I've never really been a "radio country" fan. I just didn't start off listening to country, but found my way to it in college in some sense through bands with a country influence (Son Volt, Old 97's, Ryan Adams and The Cardinals, etc.). I then found great song writers like Robert Earl Keen. I'm now a fan of the genre. But since I've been a fan, I have never once had a country station set on my radio. It's been garbage for 25 years minimum.

As far as this cancellation. If he was irresponsible and got hammered, screw him. But wife does PR for a major music venue and sometimes stuff does happen. It's never good for the ticket holder. But they've literally had artists faint due to having the flu on stage in the first song and they have to cancel the show. People still get pissed as if the person screwed them over...she'll read me the emails they get and it gets insane. I get it's not fun, but shite does happen.
