damn lucky they were in the delta...could pretty easily have been deadly in most other parts of the state due to terrain.

It crash landed on the runway.

How did the delta make it any safer than being at say The Tupelo Airport?

Plane had blow out on tire during landing and skidded to a stop.

there are more airports in the Delta, as there are more small towns...also, cropduster strips all over the countryside...

I suppose that part could be true. The Tunica Airport is really just an old crop duster field with casino $$$ improvements.

Actually the crop duster strip is still there about 2-3 miles due south of Tunica "International" and it was Federal funding that paid for the new airport not the Casino's. Although without the casino's the Feds would not have put that much money into that airport.

Tunica runway is 7,000 feet. In 2006 there were three flights a week from ATL using Boeing 727s
