People need to not act up in public and not disturb other patrons. Probably should tip too.

With racial tensions at an all time high you expect business owners to consider the impact this could have on the most disenfranchised segment of the population.

Who is at fault for this? Also disenfranchised is a bullshite made up SJW term. If these people can afford to travel during a holiday weekend to a tourist destination
then IMO they aren't disenfranchised at all.

IMO they should have been more sensitive to modern racial progression and closed another weekend.

You don't run a business according to feels.

this is just great. instead of picking out the restaurants who are actually closing due to essence, they pick the one to rally around that actually has to do repairs. landrieu chiming in is just fricking disgraceful. if i were walk ons, i would definitely tell them all to frick off a lot stronger

To sum up this thread: people are dumb, entitled idiots who will jump at the opportunity to play the victim and/or racism card.

Are you saying it isn't plausible? This isn't a Jazz Fest or Southern Decadence crowd you're dealing with. On top of that, them getting fricked up in hot sun all day...who knows. It's getting a lot of bad publicity all ready.

Went to New Orleans last evening and sizing up the crowd I saw, I think they would be more likely to eat at these places. Their portions are probably going to be larger than what you would get at Walkon's and the like.

essence is largely middle and upper middle class people

they're not going to riot and frick up walk ons

i imagine a lot of these people coming in from out of town don't even know about this issue

The Essence crowd isn't the same as the Bayou Classic crowd

They've already shown they'll ransack and rob at gunpoint some of New Orleans finer restaurants (Atchafalaya, Clancy's) or attempt to shoot a medical student execution style.

what do these have to do with large scale riots?

What issue? A restaurant closing because a sewer leak ruined their flooring and it is being replaced? They can be thanked later, when they open for business again.

sure, but how does a boycott of temporary visitors do anything?

especially when the place is already closed

I'd imagine most Essence visitors have no idea or DGAF about this "issue." It's just a few race baiters ruining it for everybody.
