I mean if she isn't/wasn't laundering money, my sympathy is right back where it needs to be. 
I say the same thing in the civil asset forfeiture cases. The ability to steal from the public without due process is fricking abhorrent, but I'm a firm believer that most of the time they are in fact seizing assets that are illicit in nature, so I don't have much sympathy in those cases. However, as a rule I hate the law because even if 5% of seizures are actually innocent, that is way too many.

I know you are just playing a role at this point, but you would be soooooooo "stayin woke" if races were turned around. Any suggestion of "tax evasion" by the woman by another poster would have had you slinging the word racist around.

I said the same thing a page or two ago. I'm not sure if it was a legitimate warrant or not. Doesn't seem to have been addressed in either post. If it was a legitimate warrant, what exactly was done wrong by the police? I'd be lying if I acted like an expert on my rights once arrested.

Nah, I've been pretty consistent in these types of civil asset issue involving large cash deposits. I may have overreacted if she's carrying $300, but my stance doesn't change based on the race.
I'm trying to separate the two situations - nothing I've said about the potential laundering should take away from the alleged wrongdoing by the Monroe PD.

You are literally saying she is guilty of money laundering in your eyes until proven innocent because of a looney hairbrained theory you've fabricated in your mind revolving around the fact that she was carrying cash. I literally carry $300 on me at all times in case of emergencies- and I'm hardly financially prolific at this point in my life. Am I also to be presumed guilty of money laundering? Would you like me to mail you a few cents every month so that you can be assured I'm not stealing my own earnings directly out of your pocket?

When I read "large deposit" in the OP, $300 never crossed my mind. While it doesn't preclude tax evasion, there are far more legitimate reasons to carry $300 than there is to have cash to enough cash on hand to make "large deposits". I understand people can come up with all kinds of reasons why you might legitimately have $1000+ in cash on hand, but it doesn't change the fact that most of the time people in that predicament are up to no good.

Slackster you are being very ignorant. Alot of jobs (waiters, waitress, handyman) recieve most of their money in cash. Also, we have these things called casinos which are pretty popular. Your probably a tax cheat as well. Anyways you really trust our government to allot the money to where it needs to be spent. LOL. Moneylaundering tennis lady coach, arent they all!

I know this woman and her family well, and also have had run ins with the Monroe PD. I believe every word of it.

Yea if it is a traffic warrant then I do not see what the issue is with the arrest. I mean it is a petty thing to arrest for but the officer is well within her means to make that arrest.

In 2012 the IRS stated $500B in taxes were evaded due to unreported wages. The income tax receipts in 2012 were $1.7T. That is 29.4% of income tax receipts that were evaded.

You know when the ot gets up in arms over not having all the facts when the police shoot someone? Well let's wait to see what all the facts are on this one, this is one side of the story.
Whether she had a warrant for her arrest for a traffic violation or not is wholly irrelevant to her cash being stolen by the arresting officer.
