I would just say this.. London, with a population of 9.1MM and a population density of 14,500 per square mile, had a 2017 homocide rate of 1.2 per 100,000. Louisiana, with a population of 4.6MM and a population density of 94/square mile, had a 2017 homocide rate of 12.4 per 100,000.
Our entire (relatively rural) state has a 10x higher murder rate than the most densely populated city in the U.K.
I’m not saying they have it all figured out (they don’t). I’m just saying that maybe we shouldn’t throw stones from our glass house.

I’m not disputing any of this. Pointing out the demographics is easy. Fixing the murder rate is much more difficult. All I’m saying is that we don’t have a lot of room to talk about crime rates.
PS.. the knife homicide rate is higher in Louisiana than the UK as well:
Louisiana (2017): 0.987 murders/100,000 people (knives)
UK (2017): 0.326 murders/100,000 people (knives)

The UK might legitimately be the biggest example of 1984 style enforcement and observation outside of NK.

I'm never out of reach of a knife, whether I'm carrying one or not, in my home or workspace. You know how much shite gets cut up in a day/week/month?
I get these people are helpless and need someone to cut up their meat for them, BUT THE NON-USELESS PEOPLE CAN'T CUT UP THE MEAT WITHOUT KNIVES, MOTHERfrickERS!

If you go to the Mayor of London’s twitter page, you will see a ton of comments complaining that the weapon laws aren’t deterring assaults and murders. Yet, they still request more laws and protection from an unarmed police force. Democratic legislation at its finest.
