She is now 13, 14 in September, and is wanting her nose and "cartilage" (think top of your ear) and eyebrow pierced now. I guess I will be making her resent me for not letting her fill her face with metal for the next 4 years.

All 5 of my girls had their ears pieced by the ENT at like 1 year.

My wife was chill. I had to walk off rather than choke holding the piercer after the first ear. That was daughter number 1. Daughters 2 and 3 do not have pierced ears because of it.

Our pediatrician's office did both of our girls ears when they were very young. I don't remember there being any crying or pain

I think you miss the point. Parents do things all the time without giving their kids a choice. They decide their kids’ haircut for years and how they dress. Other than some slight discomfort, how is that any different than getting their ears pierced?
And I also think it’s trashy as hell to get a baby’s ears pierced. But your argument sucks.
