A woman one block away had called the cops to report a boy walking outside alone. That lady had actually asked Aiden where he lived, verified that it was just down the street, and proceeded to call nonetheless. The cops picked up Aiden on his own block.

As they stood on her porch, the officers told Wallace that her son could have been kidnapped and sex trafficked.
This woman and the cops need to be bitch slapped

I walked a mile and a half to and from baseball practice every day from age 8 to 13.

My friends lived more than a half a mile from my house and I walked there to hang out. Once we were all on bikes, there were no boundaries.
Ridiculous

At that age, my brother and I walked home everyday from school.
If she got jailed for doing this 1 time, my parents may have gotten the death penalty.

I remember when I was 5 I got mad at my dad and told him let me out I’ll walk home. Of course I had no idea how to get home. He thought he was calling my bluff and pulled over. I got out and started walking, so he pulled off thinking it’d scare me but he said I just kept walking with no care in the world. He finally turned around and came back made me get in the truck

don't see how this is arrest worthy. Especially if she was monitoring him.
I mean a half mile is what? A few blocks? As a kid I rode my bike miles away from home

My mom would be on death row if she was raising kids today.

Aiden will have his own Cobra Kai franchise one day.

quote:oh wow. We walked to the convenience store that was a mile from our house approximately 9,000 times each summer. Most days multiple times a day, and certainly as young as 8.

I had to walk home about that long all the damn time at that age.
I call that walking home from elementary school every fricking day 3rd-5th grade.

I just sent the article to my mom, and told her she would have been arrested letting my sister, first grade, and I, kindergarten, walk 3/4 mile to school.
BTW, it was uphill both ways and the snow came to our waists.
No problem now due to climate change.

For being portrayed as the last bastion of freedom, Texas sure does allow some fricked up shite.

The next day, Wallace's husband paid her $300 bail and they went home. When Aiden heard his mom come in, he looked up, panic stricken. "I ate your piece of cake!" he confessed. "I didn't know you were ever coming home."
I wouldve beat his arse

shite. I made my son walk back to school after forgetting his math book for the 100th time. He wasn’t 8 though. Maybe 11. 2.5 miles each way. I followed him in my truck

Unfortunately, HB567 amended only family law, not criminal law. This meant the cops were still free to punish Wallace.
I live in Texas, and I thought that law meant that the police couldn’t harass me for allowing my kids to take some basic risks. Sounds like it’s time to expand it.

Wallace asked Aiden to walk the rest of the way home—half a mile in quiet, suburban Waco, Texas—
I bet Aiden walks much further for his travel ball games but he gets to rest at the bases. His brothers Jaxon and Braxton must have really been traumatized by this event
