The truly crazy pill part of this is that people like Mitch honestly believe that moving a ghetto trash family into a nice neighborhood will magically make that family better themselves. When in reality we all know that family will park a car in the yard, throw a couch and BBQ grill on the front porch and destroy the home values of the working class families around them. Liberals have believed for years that people just need a hand up when all those people want is a hand out.

I doubt Mitch is a true believer at all. He knows he's reached the ceiling of power he'll aspire to in Louisiana so he's simply trying to build his resume for some cush national lobbying job.

HUD is public enemy number 1. True scourge on the country. But notice how no politicians of either party ever talk about it. The bleeding heart retards want it. The landlords want it. The apartment corporations want it. The only ones who don't want it are working class normal people, and since when do their concerns matter?

You can put a tablespoon of wine into sewage and it's still sewage. If you put a teaspoonful of sewage into wine, it's completely destroyed and forever ruined.
frick Mitch. frick the Landreiu crime family.

If Section 8 goes into Lakeview, then kiss nola goodbye. It will truly be Detroit. Whatever tax base it still has will be gutted. And the politicians will act surprised.

I agree, if we are all the same..how are we supposed to appreciate these other cultures and keep one's own?

He probably isn't. And I doubt Hillary "black men are super predators" Clinton is either. But frick them for supporting destruction for their own gains.
The bigger problem is the existence of HUD. It's long been a stated goal of HUD to put Section 8 where it isn't. In other words, the federal government is actively trying to destroy neighborhoods and will go to federal court to do so. And to protest is to be sued and labeled a racist.

This is a nationwide federal initiative. There is no "flight" that will allow anyone to escape its reach.

So glad I moved out of NOLA. I love the city, but they make it so hard for people with jobs and families to live there.
Yep. I moved to the Landmass for economic reasons. I started thinking about it when I found out the cost of living was about an order of magnitude lower. Then I started looking at job sites, and similar jobs were offering a good bit more money.
I figure if I want to visit NOLA that bad it's only an hour away.

I've seen some first hand reality examples of this in my great aunt's neighborhood. Habitat put up a few houses on one of the approach streets, knocking down some old growth green space in the process. Going by about once a week or two, the change was pretty big. Once house/family looked nice from passing by, kept up the property, looked pretty "normal" by most standards. Another family had their shite all junked up within a couple months, always seemed to have about 8 cars parked in yard/street, booming music from 3 to 11-12pm. About half the time they had about 15-30 people over hanging out in front, giving you the stare down as you drive by, like you had the nerve to drive by their place. The people in the third house acted about in the middle of the two from what I saw or heard.

It's a HUD requirement, not Mitch's thing.
Seriously, I don't like this plan, but this board lacks simple reading comprehension skills.

Mitch could tell them to shove it up their federal asses, but I guess that's not a realistic option.
