Mistaken identity costs woman two weeks in jail

hell this isn't even the issue with that individual cop. it should have been caught when it got past him and it went into processing

She will get paid millions for two weeks of sitting around. I wish someone would mistakenly arrest me.

Not a chance. She'll get lost wages, attorney fees, and a small amount for her troubles.

Ok millions was an exaggeration, but she will probably get a decent amount of money out of the deal, especially if she wants to play up the emotional distress the ordeal caused her - which I'm betting isn't a lie. I know that would screw with me mentally.

If this happens once, it's way too many. Incompetence on the part of too many.

I know of two similar cases involving friends. One was snagged in a Dallas airport by ICE and laid up in jail for 10 days before Picayune, MS authorities came and got him on a fraudulent check. Whoever forged a stolen check put a random LA D. L. no on the back of it and that was all the PPD used for probable cause to get the warrant. Every politician in LA called PPD, talked to the Chief on down, and they would not release the detainer in TX.

However, when by the time he was brought back to MS, someone had woken up and he was immediately released, his arse kissed, given the key to the city, and on and on and on because they knew he had them by the balls. Sadly, he refused to sue them when he could have walked away with a pretty nice check.

The second case involved a 70-something guy who a NC court sent a warrant to LA on for felony criminal neglect of family (child support). The local sheriff called NC authorities over and over yet they insisted the warrant be served. The sheriff refused, telling them he would a) serve it; b) have a local judge set a bond; c) testify against the State of NC and anyone else involved; d) that this man had a serious medical condition and had never left the county in his life other than to serve in WWII, and e) the 70+ year old guy was white (warrant was for a black man with the exact same name. Needless to say, NC folded and later admitted they had a warrant for the wrong guy.
