Governor Reeves announced yesterday. Meanwhile Edwards still will have Louisiana on lockdown. Call the Beau Rivage and make that reservation.

As cheesy as that place is, I can see myself sitting out by their pool drinking one weekend soon.

Hey. This is John at the silver slipper. Come on down for mask mondays. We’re giving away free n95 masks with free plays. Im not excited ever. But come eat crabs legs. Also. I dont have to get excited. The entire gulf coast drive here and hand over their money to us. Its great. Yee. Haw.

Do y’all think they will get a lot of business Memorial Weekend?

I enjoy the occasional trip to the casino as much as the next guy, but that is one place that I’m fine avoiding for a longer time. Those places are one big Petri dish for germs with everyone handling chips, cards, cash, etc .... Add to the equation that probably 70% of the gamblers are high-risk to be infected and I’m gonna wait this one out for a while.

Well, if there's one place in the world that's full of healthy young people who are good at rationally predicting the outcomes of their actions and maintaining a safe distance from one another, it's a Mississippi casino.

How else are you going to boost your immune system?

Winstar Casino, north of DFW in Oklahoma, has announced they will remain closed until at least May 15. (Probably saves me a little money.)

At this point it is ABUNDANTLY clear to all but the hopelessly naive or willfully disingenuous that the Democrat governors want this shutdown to extend at least for another month, if not indefinitely. On the other hand, the Republican governors want to begin re-opening their states. Both sides feel they are morally justified in their thinking.
JBE has generally been in lock step with the other Democrat governors and there is NO DOUBT he really wants to extend the shut down to at least June 1. However, he's in the position where his state is completely surrounded by states with Republican governors. All of which are making efforts to re-open their states today. He was smart enough to know that many Louisianians would have exploded had he kept the state shut down for another month. Thus, he split the baby in hopes that the media will give him cover for another two week extension by predictably running story after story over the next two weeks showing an EXPLOSION of new cases in the states that are re-opening today.
We've already "flattened the curve" (assuming it ever really needed to be "flattened" in the first place). The economy has been hammered over the last 6-7 weeks. We're now entering the point where this is a political power play ALL under the auspices of a "national emergency."
