Exercising your First Amendment right to protest does not absolve you of consequences relating to your private sector job.

Is the employee white? If not, your wife should tread lightly.

I would call her in my office and tell her that I'm docking a percentage of her pay for not finishing the assignment on time. Then I would tell her if this happens again she would definitely be terminated. Compose a paper detailing why a certain percentage of her pay was withheld and the consequences if she does this again. The employee then signs the paper acknowledging the consequences. If she does get her arse terminated for some stupid crap like a protest, you have your arse covered if she claims that you terminated her for an unjust reason or if she tries to play the race card.

Fire or reprimand her. She knows her responsibility and chose to neglect it. Doing anything else is nothing more than excusing her irresponsibility and creating future problems.

There should be no more protests from this point forward. Every National resident in this land has heard the message. Your missus needs to look into firing her for incompetence, tardiness, or something unrelated to protest.

Reprimand her, but be damn sure everything is documented. Have another party present during the reprimand meeting so nothing gets twisted.

The fact that she is at a protest irrelevant. Project isn't done on time she should any repercussions that would fall on any other employee that doesn't finish their project.

This....she should face no more or less severe consequences than if she were doing anything else.

Having a right to peacefully protest doesn't mean you can shirk your responsibilities to do so. Reasonable people know this. People who only protest and get outrage when blacks are killed by a white person or a cop and look the other way when blacks are killed by blacks, blacks kill whites, or cops kill white people are not reasonable.

That’s a bs excuse. People have children, families, family emergencies, and they manage to get their work done,

Off duty activities are not your wives problem or her employers problem. She has an assignment and it is due in a given time.

Natural disasters, being sick not the fake illness, need more time due to changes or needed information changed, family member died and or in the hospital, and power is out are legit excuses.

Going to an after hour activity is not.

Follow her employers disciplinary procedures on this employee.

As an American, it's her right to protest. As an employer, educator, responsible party, how in the world does one think that this absolves them of their responsibility?

Rights are for governments, not for private sector.
