A Minnesota woman who went missing after a work party in Manhattan and was caught on camera stumbling along the sidewalk before she vanished has been identified as the victim found dead in the trash chute of a posh Chelsea building.
Jaclyn Elmquist’s body was found in a trash chute at a luxury building in Chelsea.
Foul play is not suspected in the death of Jaclyn Elmquist (inset), the NYPD said Saturday.
The 24-year-old’s body was discovered Friday afternoon at +Art at 540 West 28th St., cops said.
Police saw the missing flyers that were hung in the area about Elmquist’s disappearance and put two and two together, cops said.
Video from outside the building shows an unsteady Elmquist heading down the sidewalk before going into the building where her body was later found.
At one point in the clip, she appears unsteady on her feet, holding onto a wall, and then turning toward a building before heading back onto the sidewalk.
“It hasn’t been determined if she was intoxicated but it’s a possibility,” a police source said. “It’s being looked at.”
Elmquist, who worked at recruiting company Mission Staffing, had been at a work party in Manhattan and never made it back to her home in Brooklyn, her cousin posted on X.
“My cousin Jackie Elmquist has been missing since last night after she left a work party in Manhattan – she didn’t come home or show up for work this morning please spread the word so people in the area can see it since all of her family lives here in Minnesota,” kat, who uses the online name @katlynkampmeier, wrote on X.
It’s unclear why she entered the seemingly random building. The superintendent of her Brooklyn building was upset to learn Elmquist had died.
“Nooooo,” Davidson Stewart cried, visibly shaken. “No, no, no, no.”
He said Elmquist kept to herself and was “friendly.”
“She seemed happy,” he said. “It’s sad. NO mother is supposed to bury her child. That’s no good.”
“It’s the most tragic loss of life,” said a weeping woman who called herself Elmquist’s friend.
She said she was on her way to the NYPD’s 10th Precinct in Manhattan.
Elmquist’s grandfather, John Elmquist, told The Post Jaclyn’s dad James and sister, Madalyn, are in New York but that the family has little information about her death.
“At this point, we don’t know anymore than you do, I guess…My son and his daughter are in New York now and we’re waiting to hear from them,” the somber man said.
When reached for comment by The Post, James Elmquist said, “I just got into town. I’m on my way to connect with my daughter … I have to catch a shuttle.”

Peak journalism. Tough way to go and still hard to believe someone accidentally falls down a trash chute of a random building.

It’s so sad how people leave their hometown and move to a dangerous city for “opportunity”
Makes you worry about the people that have to move to texas cities just to find a job

She went to go puke in the garbage chute and fell in. That's my theory
