Officials in Palm Beach County, Fla., have identified a man whose skeletal remains were recovered from a car found submerged in a retention pond in a densely populated residential neighborhood. The man had been missing for almost 22 years, and the vehicle was near the water’s edge — reportedly visible in Google Earth satellite imagery since 2007. William Earl Moldt was reported missing on Nov. 8, 1997, when he didn’t return from a night out in Lantana, Fla. He was 40 at the time.

I wonder how the car ended up in there without tracks or something that would tip people off that maybe there's a car in the pond.

22 years later it probably smells a lot like retention pond.

That car was a crab trap for a while.

The housing development where Moldt’s remains were found was reportedly under construction at the time he went missing. It’s a neighborhood of cul-de-sacs and winding, looping roads dotted with similar retention ponds.

What's crazy is that is my friends neighbor. She posted this on FB a few weeks back. Crazy that it got national attention.

Read the article. Said the neighborhood was under construction at the time he went missing.

I Googled “Wellington, FL”, then “Moon Bay Circle” and the pond is right there at the intersection of Lake Isles Dr. You can see the car in the map, but it’s not as clear as the photo in the article.

Crazy shite.

I'll bet the pond was in an area that had yet to be developed and tracks either blended with earth mover tracks or washed away, I was living in Palm Beach County then and it was a very rainy year, in fact it was their second year in a row of 100 year flooding, very common for people to go off in canals there and go undetected, some aided by drug cartel heavies

It's her neighbor's house that the pond is behind. They were looking up their property on google earth and saw the car, so they contacted authorities and sure enough, the car was still there with the guy inside. Freaky.
