It's quite possible that the DA doesn't need the phone at this point for a grand jury hearing, which is where we are. If the rest of the evidence, including witness testimony that hasn't been made public, is sufficient for a grand jury decision, she might just tell Crump and co. that she'll have it examined, but will not let them dictate conditions. In other words, the legal version of "Go pound sand."

Mississippi would do Mississippians a big favor if it would do just that.

FTR, if the phone has not already been impounded and they intended to use it as evidence of foul-play, it should be discarded immediately and completely. It has zero fidelity at this point.

If the phone gave any indication that foul play was a factor it would be plastered everywhere.

The police don’t need the physical phone to review calls, texts and social media interactions

Grand Jury is standard procedure in Jackson County, MS for any death not deemed to have occurred by natural causes.

This is why no one has yet heard details of MS ME autopsy and toxicology reports.

Remember all that screaming over the phone and why the police don't have it, blah blah blah? It turns out the family has it but wants to negotiate. I kid you not.

They want it jointly examined at a Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College “Forensic Lab”?

Is that a gold standard forensic lab in Mississippi?

Or does that lawyer’s nephew named Bumpy take classes there?

I wonder how many teenagers have died because they did something stupid since this kid did.

Here is a sad similar story that might make people feel a little better about humanity, compared to this shite show.

quote:

Sir Audley Sykes, 17, was with his best friend at Rockaway Beach in Queens at around 7:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, Aug. 9, when the pair were caught in a rip current, ABC 7 New York reported. Local outlet QNS stated that the friend, who hasn’t been identified, was 18 years old.

quote:

“His best friend said he got tired... that’s when the lifeguard got to him, and he told the lifeguard to go to his friend and my son said, ‘No, go and pull my best friend out of the water,’ ” Thompson shared. “He would save someone else before he thought about himself and that’s the thing I appreciated about him the most,” she added to the outlet.

quote:

Lifeguards pulled both teens from the water, but only the friend survived. Sykes became the first person to drown at a N.Y.C. beach this summer, ABC 7 reported.

Maybe I'm a little behind on things, didn't know the toxicology report was complete:

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety has confirmed that the results of the state autopsy, including the toxicology report, have been turned over to the Coroner’s Office. Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr. said the results were turned over to the district attorney’s office.

Jackson County District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath said the results of the autopsy report along with other evidence collected in the investigation will remain sealed pending the outcome of a Jackson County grand jury review of the evidence to determine if criminal wrongdoing occurred.

It won't matter what the Grand Jury decides. If no charges are warrented, Crump and his gang of racist lackies will cry corruption and scream that black people can't get justice in Mississippi.

If charges are warranted, then that same group will park itself in Mississippi for the long haul looking for more grift money on the remains of any black person who happens to die in the company of white people.

The racism-pandering social media rage apparatus is fully functioning. Legal action is the only thing that shuts them down.

Lol, I like how so many of these social media personalities eventually started putting "allegedly" in all their shite posts after a few weeks. Some of them, the ones with enough followers and enough money, deserve to be sued to hell and back, and I look forward to the day I read the headline.

These social media folks are the dregs of humanity, creating bogus, inflammatory content just to make money off clicks and views, profiting off of what is very likely a tragic, accidental death of a young man, and his grieving friends. No shame. Special place in hell for them.
