This young lady graduated from my alma mater and Wake Forest Law School. She was a Miss USA winner, a successful attorney, a correspondent for multiple nationally televised programs and she resided in one of the most expensive zip codes in the country. By all accounts she was a successful young woman.

And yet her social media was littered with narratives that detailed how this country was systemically racist and how she was oppressed. Her own life story was proof that two of her most important beliefs were lies. This cannot be healthy for anyone's psyche.
Well, that just took away any and all sympathy.

Nothing I hate more than a successful "victim" of my (White male) oppression and racism.

Went on a food tour with some history mixed in at NY over the holidays. Was surprised to hear all of the people that have committed suicide that lived there.

In rural and suburban America, the lockdowns sucked but you could at least go outside and play in your yard. I’m densely populated cities some people were spending weeks inside an apartment with no outdoors, no human contact, nothing. That’s got to be horrendous for a human being.

I’m not shocked if suicides are up massively for young people in NYC

Very sad. While I haven't talked to her recently, I volunteered with her mom for years. Very smart lady, an astute business woman who pushed herself and her kids to be and do better. We had discussions about racism but I don't recall any strong talk towards oppression. She was more like, it exists but we it just means we go higher. And she did.

I feel awful for the family. :(

Black people are treated like royalty in this country lol. They don’t go through anymore struggles than anyone else. It’s all a myth.

Lol, no it isn't. If you see a black chick with long straight hair, it's either a weave or chemically straightened. If you see a black chick with long curls, it's a natural hairstyle. You can look up videos of Miss Kryst talking about her hair care routine for her natural curls.

Can confirm. It was terrible. We were lucky that we entered into contract to sell our apartment in February before the shite hit the fan. We lasted about two weeks in NYC and then moved in with family for 8 months while we looked for a house.
